Founding Collection
This collection consists of the first pieces donated by artist Zarco Guerrero that "founded" Cultural Coalition's Mask Alive! Museum & Cultural Center. The artwork in this collection spans the entirety of Zarco's 40 plus year career. From his apprenticeship in Japan to community theater production pieces, masks that have danced in festivals to ones used during his first storytelling performances.
Performance Education Collection
Pieces featured in our Performance Collection are why our museum is called Mask Alive! Museum & Cultural Center. These masks are currently in use by a variety of different performers across the state of Arizona. You can see these masks come to life at Cultural Coalition's festivals while they are worn by mariachis, ballet folklórico troupes, actors, storytellers, and other artists. These masks are available on loan to theaters, performance groups, musical and dance companies, and for school outreach programs.
Mercado Masks For Sale
Mercado Masks are works of art that are available for purchase from artists that are part of the Cultural Coalition artist collective. Funds raised through the purchase of Mercado artwork support the artists and the continued growth of the Mask Alive! Museum & Cultural Center. The majority of these pieces were made as display pieces and not necessarily for performances.
