Refugee Andrea. Plaster bandage, paper clay, painted with acrylics. Half mask. Part of the Sun Serpent Series.
Female figure with smooth overall face. Cheeks are sculpted to be high with the edges painted red. Eyebrows are sculpted to frame the eyes with hair lines carved in, painted brown and slightly turned down on the outside edges. Upper lip is painted red.
The Sun Serpent was a play produced by Childsplay and CALA Alliance, performed at Tempe Center for the Arts in 2011.
Artist and sculptor Zarco Guerrero made about 30 masks for the performance. All of the masks were made directly on the actors to better fit them during the performance.
