Round Dance #3 is in a series of paintings of football players in the U.S., critiquing the cultural appropriation of the sport itself. Modern day football stems from the Native American sport Pasuckuakohowog. The title Round Dance refers to the visual parallels between the huddle in football and the round dance ritual in a powwow, where a group of drummers stand in the middle and others dance around in a circle. Overall, this piece commemorates the roots of the sport while bringing light to the issues within the NFL that have yet to be addressed and rectified.
