Tizoc. Plaster bandage, paper clay, goat horns, reinforced with fiberglass, decorated with acrylic paints. Made for a theatrical performance of La Pastorela, a satirical Mexican Christmas play. Part of the diablito series, meaning little devil in spanish, they are worn in the play by children to accompany the devil as his helpers, creating mischief and causing the other characters trouble. Molded on the face of the artists' son, Tizoc.
Half mask of human face with horns. Expression is slightly snarling. Goat horns on top of head. Sculpted eyebrows painted brown and carved with hair lines. Left eyebrow is slightly raised. Mask has little brown and pink moles painted all over on forehead and on both cheeks. Nose is sculpted in a slightly scrunched expression with lines on either side. Upper lip is raised and painted light pink with dark pink lines painted on top. Exposed gums are painted pink with red outlining the teeth. Six yellowish jagged teeth protrude down with very pointed incisors on both sides.
